Inhouse Students Workshop on Coastal Aquaculture and Mariculture

A good platform to address modern technologies and culture practices in coastal aquaculture issues/challenges/ etc. that support the students to get deeper understanding on subjects and concepts is required. In connection with the same thought, an Inhouse Students Workshop on “Coastal Aquaculture and Mariculture” has been organised on 21.12.2016 at Seminar hall,Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri. Dr. S. Felix, Course Teacher and Dean of the Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri took this initiative exercise in terms of students personality development.

The workshop was based on:-

  1. What is the current need of fish production from Coastal Aquaculture?
  2. How do we create the environment receptive for bringing in the new candidates species?
  3. How modern and evolving technologies and culture practices are in line with the increase in fish production?

The Students of Third Year B.F.Sc., were given an opportunity to enhance their presentation skills and the evaluation was done by judging their English Fluency, Subject understandings, Eye contact to the audience, Time management, Powerpoint slides preparation and the ability to deal with the questions during their presentations. The students and faculty  of the college attended the workshop and motivated the presenters to bring out the best in their deliberations. The first three best presentations have been selected and the Awardees were:

  • Mr. Mohammed Faizullah    - Ist  Position
  • Mr. G. Vishwanth             - IInd Position
  • Mr. B. Naveen Rajeshwar   - IIIrd Position

100 students from first and second year were fully involved presentations of the third year students and interestingly they’ve taken part in the discussions. This workshop helps them to get a clear outlook on Global status of Coastal aquaculture and Mariculture and gained an exposure on presentation skills. Miss. M. Menaga the co-course Teacher organised the workshop and carried out successfully The third year students accorded their gratitude to Dr.S. Felix, Dean, Fisheries College and Research Institute for giving them this wonderful opportunity to mould their proficiencies.
