Dr. Grayson Perry, Trade Commissioner, Australian Trade Commission, Australian Government visited the Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri on 1st March 2016. He inaugurated the ‘Aquaculture Quality Testing Lab’ and visited the various labs of the College, discussing about the research works being carried out. The commissioner also had a meeting with the Dean and teaching faculty and discussed on the scope of collaborative research, staff & students exchange with the Australian Universities and training to the progressive farmers in Barramundi hatcheries. The Commissioner along with the Dean, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Ponneri visited the Pazhaverkadu Farm Facility and also the landing centre with a specific curiosity towards Mud crab, Scylla serrata. He then visited the Advanced Research Farm Facility, Madhavaram. He was briefed about the research works being carried out in raceways, lined ponds & multispecies ornamental hatchery. He was specifically interested in Pangassius and GIFT. The Austrade commissioner was overwhelmed with the works being carried out by the Fisheries College and Research Institute and he congratulated the Dean and the faculty for the splendid efforts.
