National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) sponsored training programme on Biosecured Monosex Tilapia (GIFT) Farming was conducted at Tilapia Research Centre, Pungampatti, Krishnagiri (Dt) from 23-03-2017 to 28-03-2017. The training programme was inaugurated by Th. Thillairajan, Assistant Director of Fisheries, Krishnagiri (Dt). The welfare schemes for inland fish farmers were explained by Mr.Ratnam, Inspector of Fisheries. Dr.K.Veerabhadran, Professor and Head, Department of Fisheries Extension, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, who was the guest to the Centre, also spared his time and explained the schemes and activities of NFDB to the trainees.
Technical details on pond preparation, culture of Tilapia, feeding of Tilapia, cage farming and Biosecured farming were explained by Dr.P.Chidambaram, Associate Professor and Head, Tilapia Research Centre. The trainees were taken for the field visit to the farm in the Centre. A total of 30 farmers of Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri (Dt) participated in the training programme.
At the valediction of the Programme, participation certificates were distributed by Dr. Mohammad Jallaludin, Professor and Head, Regional Research Station, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Paiyur, Krishnagiri (Dt).
